The Mumbaiya Guide

The words or the language that the real people of mumbai speak is totally different from the others. They have a dictionary of their own. Here are a few words from it.

Waanda – minor problem

Usage: There's a minor problem, dude – Arre yaar, Waanda ho gaya

Jhol – big problem

Usage: There's a big problem,dude – Arre yaar, Jhol ho gaya

Raada – unsolvable problem

Usage: Dude, there's a huge (unsolvable) problem – Arre yaar,Raada ho gaya

Hill – surprise (Not the english hill)

Usage: You'll be surprised – Tu Hill jayega

Kaltii – going out

Usage: I am going out of this place – Chal apun "Kaltii" marta hai

"apun" is also a typical mumbaiya word. It means "me"

Shendi – making fool of others

Usage: Don't make a fool of others – Dekh , tu Shendi mat laga sabko

Galat Faimili – misunderstanding
Usage: There's some misunderstanding – Arre kuch Galat Faimili ho gayi

Full Too – getting drunk / getting high
Usage: Do u drink daily? – Tu kya roz Full Too hota hai?

Fat – afraid
Usage: See, You are afraid.. – Dekh , teri to fat gayi

Kharcha Pani – bash

Usage: Shall I bash u? – Du kya Kharcha Pani ?

Khopcha – a corner / a secret place
Usage: Take him into a secret place – Use jara Khopche me leke ja.

Zakaas Item – beautiful lady

Usage: What a beautiful lady !! – Kya Zakaas Item hai yaar!!

Raag – Bluff
Usage: Don't just bluff – Jyaada Raag mat de..

ZAGMAG /DHINKCHAAK – awkward (mostly clothes and appearance)

Usage: Your clothes are very awkward!! – Kya ZAGMAG /DHINKCHAAK pehna tune?

There are few other words like Pakaa, Sumdi, Shaane etc…
